How do I Value my Blog Domain Name? What is my Domain Worth? What is my Domain's Real Value? What is a "Domain Valuation"?These are common Questions of Internet Domain Owners! The value of internet domains is being increasingly recognized. Domain names or "URLs" have in recent years become an increasingly popular and valuable investment for smart investors. There are a number of investors that have Internet Domain Name Portfolios that focus on the internet domain value. Experts speak of "Internet Property" and note that the internet has prime properties such as Business.com, Beer.com, Software.com, etc. which have appreciated from the original purchase price of a few dollars to domain valuations of well over $100k! Smart domain investors make money twice: regular income from AdSense Ads, ClickBank Ads and Chitika Ads they place on their parked domains and a lump of cash when they auction their domain names This is how you can determine the value of a domain you own or are interested in buying:
If the domain value estimate is attractive then you can list your domain for sale (free listing!) or put your domain up for auction. The auction fee is only payable after the successful sale. Alternatively, you can just "park" the domain, sign up with the popular Chitika Ads, AdSense Ads and ClickBank Ads and earn some advertising income from your site. However, what many people don't know is that it is quite easy to develop and profit from a domain! However, to get visitors to your site, you need plenty of links back to your site. This is the best system I have found that creates good "organic" links back to my sites: BackLinks I would also suggest that you increase your domain value and income with Paul Gunter and Andrew Shorten's free Web Tools.
Increase and Maximise your Web Domain Value!Which "TLD" has the most Value? What is worth more - .com, .net, .info or .biz? Generally, a .com domain name will have 5-10 times the value of the same name with any other extension. Domains - Does Size Matter? In general, shorter domain names achieve a higher value, for example Vodka.com vs FermentedPotatoSpiritFromTheRussianFederation.com. But don't artificially shorten your name by substituting numbers for letters. Food4Thought.com is worth less than FoodForThought.com; Fd4Thght.com is worthless. On the other hand, www.TheAbsolutelyPositivelyMostLongestDomainNameInTheWholeWideWorld.com has novelty value, as has www.ZZZZZZZZ.info. Hyphens - Yes? - or No?Hyphenated domain names are hotly debated by domainers. Sometimes, hyphens help clarify the meaning: Pet-Smart.com vs Pets-Mart.com, un-ionized.com vs union-ized.com, Expert-SexChange.com vs Experts-Exchange.com. While some believe that hyphens reduce the value of a domain, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) experts report that hyphens help search engines parse the domain name and therefore provide better Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). The value of domain name misspellings is limited to the revenue from those who mis-type a common name, eg. Koogel.com. Singular or Plurals?Should the domain name refer to the singular or plural? This depends very much on the context and meaning of the domain. Talk.com is probably more valuable than Talks.com, but ConcertTicket.com is most likely worth less than ConcertTickets.com... Prefixes and Suffixes?Prefixes (eg. "Best...", "Top...", "My...", "Your", "e..." or "i..." in front of the domain name) or suffixes (eg. "...4You", "...4U", etc. at the end of the domain) will usually reduce the value. There are some exceptions like the MyDomainValue.com site you are on right now; 20% of searches that lead to this site include the word "My"! eBay.com and MySpace.com are of course exceptions - their value is due to the branding, not the actual domain name. Are there still any 'good' Domain Names left? With so many domains already registered, are there any 'good' domains left? How many words are there in the domain? How common are these words? Generally, the more words in the domain name, the less it is worth. But common two-word expressions are worth more (sometimes MUCH more) than rare one-word expressions. And common three-word expressions can be worth more than rare one-word expressions. Example: UsedSportsCars.com is worth more than Semantics.com; FreeEmailAddress.com has a higher domain value than Superiority.com! When comparing the value of domains with the same number of words, the likely audience and the commercial usefulness of the domain name the crucial factor. For example, Cars.com is a very commercially useful one-word domain name. However, Semantics.com, while having some value, doesn’t have a very clearly defined audience and is much less commercial. Cars.com is probably worth many thousand times more than Semantics.com, although they are both one-word domains. Also, just because a domain name is in the dictionary this doesn't automatically make it valuable! A myth that is regularly repeated on many domaining discussion boards and domain auction sites is that any one-word domain name is worth thousands of dollars. In practice, this is not true. If a domain name has no commercial value or cannot be connected to a business, it usually has little or no value! For example, "Gerontocracy" is in the dictionary but its domain value is low.
